Nick Hood is a British plantsman and garden designer based in Wiltshire.

Nick gained early inspiration from the passionate, practical and down to earth approach to gardening imbued in him by his Grandpa and mother. With memories of playing amongst herbaceous borders and potagers, surrounded by Somerset meadows, it is not surprising that Nick’s designs combine the essence of traditional English country gardens with sculptural, naturalistic planting, embracing the forms and colours of a rich mixture of plants as they evolve through the seasons.

Trained in horticulture with the National Trust at Trengwainton Garden in Cornwall and at Cannington College, Somerset, Nick is known for his herbaceous borders, large scale pots and floral displays for events. He designs new and evolving gardens and schemes for country houses and estates in Wiltshire, Berkshire and Hampshire, preparing short and long term plans, and overseeing and training garden staff. Nick also offers one-off garden and flowerbed design and consultation services online or in person.

Nick brings together art and gardening in collaborative projects with his wife, sculptor Julieann Worrall Hood, creating public art commissions and environmental installations nationally. Projects include the acclaimed ‘Flowery Meads’ installation in the grounds of the beautiful Watermill Theatre, Newbury and a series of living sculptures for Conkers, the National Forest visitor centre in Leicestershire.
